Huma wrote about how Amitabh Bachchan was trying to teach her how to pout but instead she only ended up looking like a 'circus clown'! We disagree, Huma! We think you look pretty cute! What do you guys think?

Parineeti Chopra proved her acting mettle with her very first Bollywood films 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl' and 'Ishaaqzaade', where she got nominated for Filmfare awards. Parineeti went on to feature in 'Shuddh Desi Romance' which also got her a Filmfare nomination.

Her movies Hasee Toh Phasee, Daawat-e-Ishq and Kill Dil did not do great guns at the box office. Parineeti thus decided to slow it down and retrospect her career. Movie Review : Shaandaar

$

Starring: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj Kapur, Sanah Kapur, Sanjay Kapoor, Sushma Seth

Director: Vikas Bahl

Music: Amit Trivedi

Shaandaar is all quirky, all fun but misses the spark of extraordinaire that Vikas Bahl displayed in Queen.  For those who fell in love with the demure, unsure, unconfident Rani and in turn with Vikas Bahl, the curious observer who sharply created the relatable story of self-discovery, Shaandaar is neither that delicate, nor as nuanced and mostly never half as heartfelt. It feels too superficial and probably Bahl loses himself far too much in that glitter of Karan Johar’s world.

The problem with success is such, you are expected to up your game with each movie. And sometimes, a director wants to visit his dreamy side, translate his bizarre ideas into films, which might not translate into good cinema. Shaandaar is just that – a rendering of Bahl’s bright imagination that doesn’t culminate into a great work!

Bahl hasn’t been a man of clichés and he continues to explore his innovative streak with this adorable romantic comedy. Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt shine with their delightful chemistry. A desolate orphan, looked down upon by her wealthy family for being an adopted child and a wedding planner with a painful history are both insomniacs and begin a fairytale romance, complete with frogs, horses with a pompous backdrop. But, it is far from perfect.

Bahl is a master of characterization and he successfully makes Shahid’s JJ a darkness fearing hero who finds horses in clouds with his lady love and serves her imaginary piping hot chai. Alia, who plays Alia, is nothing like the Alia we know, besides her zest. She is smarter than Google and the empress of the kingdom of day dreaming, which is far detached from her sorted, successful self.
The film has it all for romantics, though,  – ‘awwww’ moments are in abundance, beautiful locales, picturesque backdrop, vibrant chemistry and fun all the way. What it lacks is a coherent story! And almost everything it offers in its subplots, is expected. Unlike Queen, Bahl’s genius doesn’t conjure up something as delectable.

Pankaj Kapur as Alia’s father is the star of the show. While, Shahid, Alia and debutante Sanah Kapur are all impressive and brilliant, Pankaj is subtle and owns his character with panache. His performance is understated. You can’t help but laugh at his cleverly orchestrated mischiefs and his undying love for his daughter from the woman who was his soulmate.

Another, excellent element comes from the Sindhi-man Fundwani played by Sanjay Kapoor. He is outlandish, speaks a funny mishmash of stylish English and Sindhi, claims everyone from Queen Elizabeth to Michael Jackson is Sindhi like him and wears twice more gold than Bappi Lahiri. He and Sushma Seth, who plays the evil Arora matriarch, have cracked a hefty business deal. The oversized Arora child (Sanah) is sold off to Fundvani heir Robin in return of gold of the bride’s weight. Naturally, taking a dig at the Sindhis’ love for notes, the fresh-out-of-gym-protein-shake-drinking heir and the vivacious Esha (Sanah) are engaged. The boy flaunts his eight-and-half-pack abs with pride and is obnoxiously over-critical of Esha’s extra pounds. How this story ends in a commentary against body shaming, is a hoot all the way!

At its core, Shaandaar attempts to be a breezy love story. But Vikas doesn’t capture the journey of JJ and Alia’s love story enough. While he gives us ample to savour, including a dance sequence on Eena Meena Deeka, pillow fights and hide-and-seek, Bahl doesn’t let the romance simmer enough or grow on us. Had it not been for the caliber of its cute actors, and their natural chemistry, it can very well be called underwhelming. How JJ and Alia fall in love is never elaborated. It was always an attraction and *snap* Alia is telling her father, JJ loves her!

Shaandaar is fun, lives up to the claim of being ‘zany’, sweet but lacks finesse. There are too many good ideas that don’t quite come together. And while the narrative is innovative, the story is simple and predictable. The film’s sparkling humour comes from its dialogues that feels refreshing unlike the stale claptraps we are constantly subjected to. Bahl attempts to build around the usually funny premise but fails to do justice to his vision. Additionally, the film’s length dilutes the magic.

It is great to watch, enjoyable in parts, a treat for romantics who finally get a film that is more than trials and tribulations of love but it never gives you the heady high of mushrooms and pot brownies. Shaandaar isn't all that Shaandaar but is a breezy, feel-good entertainment that will soon in future will be counted as comfort-cinema. Bahl deserves to be applauded for creating newer tangents to deliver on and not replicating what already exists. Until next time, dream on!

Joya in Bollywood remake of 'Rajkahini

Mahesh Bhatt has been all praises for his latest protege, filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee's new Bangla film, “Rajkahini” that stars, among others, Jaya Ahsan. He is now working on a Hindi adaptation of the film with Srijit, who bagged the National Award for Best Director for his film “Chotushkone” this year.

“Like Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil in their films, and my daughter Alia Bhatt in 'Highway', this film too has one of the greatest performances by a woman - Rituparna Sengupta as Begum Jaan,” asserts Bhatt, who is convinced it will make for an engrossing Bollywood drama. The film follows the Bengal partition through a new border between India and Bangladesh that runs right through a brothel that houses 11 women.

“This premise is thrilling and it moved me to the core. In the red rays of the rising sun, a sleeping India awakens, said Tagore. When you watch Srijit's film, you feel that awakening. It is a soul-stirring tale and the Hindi audiences will love it,” says Bhatt, who is coming on board as the co-writer and creative director.

Admitting that the writing will be a long process, he avers that the story does not sing; it bleeds. “It's a volcanic explosion which has erupted from the cultural citadel of Bengal and will burn and purify you,” says the 67-year-old filmmaker, who would like Rituparna to act in the Hindi remake too. “She brought tears to my eyes in a few scenes and I told her that I want to cast her in my film,” he said.

We are like family: Srk about Kajol

As we all know, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol will rekindle their chemistry with their upcoming Rohit Shetty-directed ‘Dilwale’, which releases on December 18. The dynamic duo were paired together in the legendary, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ 20 years back and since then they have given one hit after the other.

And when Kajol was asked what was that one thing that hasn’t changed in Shah Rukh, the actress replied, “There is a lot that hasn’t changed about him at all. One thing that hasn’t change about him is the fact he is more than 300 per cent present on the shoot. It is his energy that he spends on creativity, physically expressing himself and he takes absolutely no care of himself. He just doesn’t give a shit about himself. That has not changed for all the years we have known each other."

Shah Rukh on his part, says, “Kajol and I are very good friends, we are like family having been working together for so many years now. Actually, we are quite opposite of each other, even our styles of acting is totally different. I have done theatre while she is a spontaneous actor. Except for our beautiful eyes, there is nothing common between us. We complement each other."

Shah Rukh continues, "What has not changed about her is that she is a very natural person, and I tell this to everybody, that if Kajol doesn’t like something then that won’t happen, and if she likes something then that will unquestionably turn more beautiful. That is the quality which children have...the rawness. She brings innocence in reality which I find outstanding and it helps me in having a co-actor like her. Every time I work with her I feel a little more refurbished and I want to go back to that innocence."

While Kajol was found listening intently to Shah Rukh but at the end of it she was left confused and wondering - "Was that a compliment...???" And she burst out laughing with that same innocence intact.

Just about two months away, the big Christmas clash — between Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s, ‘Bajirao Mastani’(BM) and Rohit Shetty’s, Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol –starrer, ‘Dilwale’ — has been a hot topic of discussion in film trade circles.

One could sense here as few years back, in 2007, Shah Rukh’s, ‘Om Shanti Om’ clashed with Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ and now again they are going to battle it out in the screens.
And for the first time, Shah Rukh Khan comments on the clash and whether the audience will get divided with both the films releasing on the same day.

“Absolutely, there is no science to it, of course the audience will get divided and I believe not just in my films but I believe in and respect each and everybody’s film. It is kind of unfortunate. We make 200 Hindi films a year and there are 54 to 56 Fridays a year, four films are bound to come on the same Friday. But having said that, I feel, the time that we are coming in is the Christmas weekend.

There is enough business on that weekend for two films to co-exist and do well. Inshallah, both ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ will do very well," said Shah Rukh from Ramoji Film City studio, Hyderabad where he is currently filming 'Dilwale'.

A source from the set revealed that Sunny did a lot of research when it came to her character and juggling between the roles of both the twins. Sunny would be seen as Laila and Lily and the film would also have Tusshar and Vir Das playing the lead.

Unless I sweat I don’t feel I have done a movie: SRK

It is a known fact that Shah Rukh Khan redefined romance as Raj in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, the film that the superstar says he nearly refused as he found the role too “girlish.”  The actor had revealed this in the Making of DDLJdocumentary, released to mark 20th anniversary of the film.

Shah Rukh, who was mostly seen in dark-action-thrillers like Darr, Baazigar, Anjaam prior to DDLJ, confessed his apprehensions of starring in a romantic film. Interestingly, Shah Rukh had also said in this documentary that unless and until he sweats he doesn’t feel he has done a film! And talking about his upcoming Rohit Shetty-directed,Dilwale, which he is currently wrapping up at a frenetic pace along with his co-stars – Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon among others, Shah Rukh says he loves such films where he sweats while shooting and there is lot of hard work involved.

Dilwale comes across as a wholesome package of entertainment with romance, comedy, drama, action, super cars...“I love doing such films, I am sweating since morning. I have to do lot of hard work. What do you get in love stories...you are eating chocolates, thoda dance karo, thoda pyaar karo and the movie is over...nothing happens.

Unless I sweat I don’t feel I have done a movie,”he says good-humoredly when we meet him at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.Well, this is not surprising at all for someone who neither possesses a typical filmstar look nor has any backing of a filmy family. His real legacy undoubtedly is of sweat, blood and lot of hard work with goals set very high.

Reasons Why Shah Rukh Khan Is The King Khan

Shah Rukh Khan may not be the obvious Bollywood hero and yet he has been the ideal chocolate boy, the knight in shining Armour and the quintessential romantic hero over the years. We see even the girls in their teens go weak in their knees when the charming star smiles, flashes his dimples and gives them a warm hug.

But he is more than what meets the eye. He is unapologetically ambitious, dares to reach greater heights to conquer the impossible and is forever ready to learn new ideas and skills. His oratorical skills and no-diplomacy take makes you adore the King Khan. While a new tide of talented hunks have been invading the industry nobody so far has been able to shake the Badshah’s throne. As the 50th birthday celebrations begin for the King of Romance, we tell you why we are absolutely and hopelessly in love with him.

Self-made superstar
Unlike many of current crop of Hindi cinema stars, who came from film families, King Khan was born in a middle class family in Delhi. His father ran a transport company and his mother was a magistrate. He was 15 years old when his father passed away due to cancer; his treatment had been expensive due to which their family business collapsed.
One fact that cannot be ignored about Shah Rukh is that he is a self-made man, who struggled very hard to find the numero uno position in the competitive and ruthless industry.

Intelligence and good looks
Now isn’t that a rare combination? Add charming to that and the rarity grows manifold.

His trademark air hug pose
Shah Rukh has donned his signature pose several times in his movies and it belongs to one and only King Khan.

Charima and great persona
In writer and poet Javed Akhtar’s words, “Such is his charisma that he made a religious, conservative, traditional expression like ‘Inshallah’ very cool, fashionable and secular.”  That says it all.

 A family man
He loves his family and some of his family moments shows where his priorities lie. He is undoubtedly a fantastic father, who loves and cares for his children – Aryan, Suhana and Abram, unconditionally.

 Showering love on his fans
He adores his fans and never disappoints them. Remember, on every birthday of his, he makes a point to stand on his house’s fence to interact and thank his fans for wishing him.

Sexy stubble
It is not common to see Shah Rukh Khan sport a salt-and-pepper stubble, but when he does, he looks like a total lady-killer .In fact the superstar recently won a poll on who sports grey stubble the best and we hope he sports it more often.

Perfect mix of humbleness and arrogance
You can’t deny that confidence and that arrogant streak in SRK is a huge turn on!

Great oratorical skills
He is smart, witty and seems so at ease while talking one-on-one or even in crowd. Due to his charming eloquence, he is definitely one of the best hosts; he entertains like nobody with his killer sense of humour and witty one-liners.

Trend-setter
Be it the anti-hero look of Baazigar or Darr, or his hip leather jacket and denim looks in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, or the ponytail or the geeky one in Main Hoon Naa or Don 2, or then even his simple casual look in Chak De! India orSwades, his taste for finer things in life makes him an effortless trendsetter.

Dimples
His deep dimples can make your heart melt and make millions of women swoon. There’s no denying that.

He is unapologetically himself
'I like 6 bodyguards around me while I eat at a café. I love being a star.' Not many have the confidence to say this...

A global name
Not only is SRK the most popular star in B-town, but represents India on a global platform as well. Be it America or Australia, King Khan is well known all over!

We wish you a very Happy Birthday King Khan!

Ever since AbRam Khan has entered Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri's life, everybody is eager to know and read more about the toddler. His cute looks and adorable habits have forced people to look our for more news about him.

Last year, SRK shared a picture of his youngest son on social media and since then the media and fans couldn't stop raving about him. While earlier SRK tried to keep AbRam away from paps, now he is often spotted at the airport or on the sets of the films Khan is shooting.

Recently, the little wonder was having the time of his life while daddy dearest was shooting for Dilwale in Hyderabad. From driving a mini car with Rohit uncle to dancing his heart out when SRK drove on the streets of Hyderabad, AbRam did it all.

And when we asked Varun Dhawan, SRK's co-star from Dilwale how was his experience with the kiddo, he said, "Gauri ma'am has warned Shah Rukh sir that he shouldn't talk much about AbRam. So even I can't talk about him."

Oops! Well it seems not just SRK but even Varun is scared of Gauri! We wonder why has the Queen stopped King Khan from talking about their globe trotting son?!

I mean, we all are always excited to know more about him. Ain't we?

What think SRK about his children?

Shah Rukh Khan, who came from a non-film background, does not believe that his children should follow in his footsteps to pursue a career in acting. The superstar, who's now 50 and hopes to open an acting institute, however says his daughter Suhana is keen to be an actress.

The Hindi film industry is replete with film families- the Kapoors and the Bachchans.

"I don't believe in legacy. My father was not an actor. I became an actor and I feel there is no need for my children to become actors. I will not tell them what they should do as I have never been told by my parents what to do.

"It does not matter what I want for my children, except what they want to be. And if they do not become actors, I'll still love them more," he said at an event here.

He does not believe that his children have inherited his acting ability, but said: "My son (Aryan) is studying and I want him to complete his graduation, but my daughter wants to learn acting, but I don't know which institute in India I should send her to."

SRK has another son named AbRam but he's too young.

Talking about his dream project, the actor-producer said: "I learnt acting when I was doing theater for seven to eight years. I luckily worked with Barry John and studied a lot about acting and that learning helped me. I wish to make an acting institute where youngsters can get to learn professional acting, and understand from international artistes what acting is about.

"But it won't be called Shah Rukh Khan Acting as I'm able to act one kind of acting which sounds very confining."

Bipasha Basu recently visited alleged boyfriend Karan Singh Grover on the sets of his upcoming film 3Dev in Patna, reviving rumours of their relationship.

Though Bipasha and KSG both have denied it and call themselves 'just friends', the pictures and videos suggest something else. In fact, a leaked video of the two working out together two months back, had gone viral and people assumed that the two are dating each other.

In an interview with DNA, Bipasha reacted to the leaked video. She said, "That wasn’t a workout video! A trainer called Abbas was collecting videos of pull-ups for World Pull-up Day. He did my pull-up, Then shot Karan and the other members of the gym. We did a two-people routine (where she was straddling him as he did the pull-ups) and that was posted. I like to work out and it wasn’t leaked or anything. Abbas posted it and then people with filthy minds took it in a different way. It’s disgusting!"

Meanwhile, Bipasha, who is working on her fourth work-out video, when asked if this one will feature KSG, pat came the reply, "No. Because I am mostly catering to women. Karan will do his own male workout video if he wants to."

Point noted Bips!

Now there is too much hotness to handle in this one frame. And as a picture says a thousand words, this one conveys many unsaid emotions. It's the ex, present and possibly the future; all in one frame. it's no hidden secret about Deepika Padukone once being head over heels in love with Ranbir Kapoor.

So much so, she got a tattoo engraved of the actor'initials on her back (and it's still very much there!) The duo parted their ways later, and became good friends, and went ahead and acted in YJHD together.

Now, the couple is all set to scorch the screen again with Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha, which is to be released on Nov 27. So DP-Ranbir has begun their roller coaster ride of promotional activities, and a solid 'tadka' was added to one of their promotional stints. Much to everyone's excitement, even expected but nevertheless a surprise; DP's current love and alleged boyfriend, Ranveer Singh made an appearance at her better's half film promotion, and sent the shutterbugs in a tizzy. Because, the actor ended up getting clicked a rare picture in B-Town history; with DP on one side and her ex-Ranbir, on the other!

So before you guys refuse to believe us, here check DP's tweet, who herself posted and shared the picture on her Twitter account. The post says, 'Me&MY Hotties!!2much to handle!! And we agree, too much of everything is going on this picture. We wonder what made Ranveer reach out to DP during her promotions. Jealousy or ... well, we leave that up to decide. DP and Ranveer will be next seen in Bajirao Mastani, releasing on Dec 18.

Looks like its 'Double Promotion, Double Love, Double Mazaa..' Whatsay!
