Now who doesn’t love Munna Bhai and his Circuit’s crazy antics? The duo, who created havoc in a medical college and prompted Gandhigiri, are all set to return in the third instalment of the Munna Bhai series! Yes, you heard it right. Filmmaker Raju Hirani, who has earlier directed both the films under the Munna Bhai franchise, himself has put all the speculations to rest. The ace director has revealed that he is indeed working on the third instalment of the series with Sanjay Dutt in the lead.

In a recent interview to Hindustan Times, Hirani shared, “I have found a story that is as good as Lage Raho Munna Bhai or maybe even better. I wasn't doing the third part because I wasn't finding anything that matches that level. Now, I have found it, but it will take some time to write it. I am writing a script for Munna Bhai 3 and Sanju will star in it, and will play his age. I spoke to him (about the film when he came out on parole recently), and he was very excited."

On being asked when this much-awaited film will hit the theatres, Hirani said, “I have a couple of ideas, so I am writing two more scripts besides Sanju's biopic. While one is a Munna Bhai film, there's also another new story. I plan to take it up after wrapping up Sanju's biopic.” Apparently, Hirani’s next venture is a biopic on Sanjay, starring Ranbir Kapoor.

Recently, the rumour mill was abuzz that Ranbir would play the role of Munna Bhai. Besides that, there were also talks about a film called Munna Bhai Chale Delhi, which was going to be directed by Subhash Kapoor (of Jolly LLB, 2013, fame). However, later it was reported that Subhash will not helm the movie owing to ‘creative differences’.

Now this makes us very excited, as to which new wave will Hirani bring in with apun ka Munna Bhai!

And taking it to another level was the launch of Indian Super League for football, where Bollywood’s major hotties went ahead and co-owned football teams to invest in! SRK deserved an Oscar for My name is Khan: Paulo Coelho

SRK has a huge fan following across the globe. And recently, when the renowned author, Paulo Coelho, took to Twitter and Facebook, to praise the actor’s work, SRK was over the moon!

It all began when Paulo, back in August, tweeted, @paulocoelho: “My name is Khan" (2009) is the best movie I watched this year”. What followed was a friendly banter between the author and King Khan. Paulo had also expressed his desire to watch more of SRK's films; @paulocoelho: “@karanjohar @iamsrk Congrats for "My name is Khan." I wish we could see more of your movies in Europe. I had to wait 6 yrs to watch this!”

In reply to his tweet, SRK tweeted back, @iamsrk: “@paulocoelho send me your address sir I will supply you all indian films as they release. We read u as soon as u write...v r blessed. Thanx.”  Looks like SRK has kept his promise, and fulfilled Coelho’s desire to make him see the actor’s films.  SRK sent over DVDs of some of his iconic films for the author to watch. The collection had almost all of SRK's best work till date - Chak De India, Swades, Asoka, Ra.One, Don and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and many more!!

Paulo, who was surprised by SRK's sweet gesture, tweeted back on Monday morning, with the picture of the DVDs; @paulocoelho: What a Monday morning gift,  @iamsrk !!! Now I need to know where to start.

Here the gracious actor stepped ahead and asked his followers to help Paulo choose which movie to start from, and tweeted: @iamsrk: Just sent sum movies to @paulocoelho. Please tweet him ur suggestions which one to watch first.

However, what made it even more special was, when a couple of hours back Paulo took to his Facebook page and posted; “His fist (and only) movie that I watched (this year, even if it was released in 2008) was "My name is Khan". And not only the movie was excellent, but SRK deserved an Oscar if Hollywood was not manipulated. He kindly offered to send the other titles - as you probably guess, it is not easy to find them in Switzerland.”

Looks like B-town has a new friendship to look for… Let’s hope, Paulo pens the screenplay for one of SRK’s movie in future! What Say?

Aishwarya did not join social media out of respect for hubby and FIL

We know that many B-towners are very active on social media, including Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. However, in an interview with Filmfare, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan explained in detail, why she wishes to stay away from the social media platforms.

She said, "I've no point to prove that I'm at the forefront in terms of having the latest bag, sporting the latest hairstyle or being the first person on Facebook. I saw Facebook flying all over the place. Also, very often people employ agencies to keep those accounts running and it is not really the artist that is conencting. I preferred to watch it from afar even though it is not a no from my side."

She added, "Twitter is a wonderful tool to set facts right. However, it became a barometer of popularity. I didn't feel the need to get onto the rat race. But this does not come from insecurity because I never had that in terms of the number of followers or well wishers I could also possibly project. That is incredibly vain. I already had that coming in various surveys and the millions of hits I was getting on Google. It was all there. So why get on to Twitter to prove that? People were putting up their yawns, sneezes, food pictures, and pictures of the sky when they were driving out to work...I know it was all to notch up the numbers."

When asked if you can really tell if the star is chatting (on social media) or a representative,
Aishwarya said, "Yes, you can because you know everybody's vocabulary. If I have to do it, I will do it myself. Coming back to the fact that I was married into a family with the three of us within this turf, I did not want to be part of the comparative space. It opens you up to trolling. So out of respect for my husband and my father-in-law, I don't need to be a part of this at this point of time!".

Well, those are some strong sentiments from Aishwarya. Do you agree with her that stars do it to show off the number of their followers? Or do stars do it just because they like to interact with their fans? We would like to believe that they do it for the latter reason, don't we?

TV screenwriter Faruq Hossain was lost at sea a couple of months ago while on vacation, and was never heard from again. While chances of his return remain bleak, a telefilm he wrote two years ago is being made, with Emon and Shokh pairing up on screen for the first time for it.

Director Himel Ashraf took the script for “Na Bhulbona Tomaye” long ago, but never got around making it, until now. Shooting for the tele-film began on Monday at two shooting spots in Uttara.

Shokh and Emon had shared screen space together before for a popular TVC for a telecom company. This is also Emon's first work with Himel Ashraf. Shokh said she has always been a fan of Faruq Hossain's plays, and she felt emotional working on this script.

The telefilm will air on Channel i on October 16, the director informed.

7 Bollywood celebrities who made a comeback after flops

$

Big names, big achievements but celebs often take a step back after a stint of flops. Not everyone face the same fate in the box office. But despite flops, there are some actors who have made a smashing comeback. We at Pinkvilla take a look at some of the popular actors who miraculously brought their careers back from the dead:

Amitabh Bachchan
Here, we are not at all talking about Big B’s popularity. Amitabh Bachchan’s career graph rose high with his Television screen presence as ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ host in 2000. This television quiz show earned Big B huge success as he presented his real self. KBC is in true sense regarded as Amitabh Bachchan’s comeback and established him as a brand.

Anil Kapoor
The ‘Jhakaas’ actor starred in many films, but 2008 film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ made Anil Kapoor an international face. Films like ‘Salaam-e-ishq’, ‘Tashan’, ‘Bewafaa’ didn’t help his career much.

Sridevi
Sridevi made a solid comeback after a hiatus of 15 years and what a comeback! After 1997 release ‘Judaai’, Sridevi was seen in films like Kaun Sachcha Kaun Jhootha and Meri Biwi Ka Jawaab Nahin and no one even noticed. But Gauri Shinde’s ‘English Vinglish’ gave her a huge success and appreciation.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
After ‘Jodha Akbar’, which became a massive hit, Aishwarya faced a string of flops with ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Raavan’, ‘Action Replayy’ and ‘Robot’ all in one year – 2010. She then concentrated on her daughter Aaradhya and five years later she is returning to the silver screen in a thriller film ‘Jazbaa’. We are eagerly waiting to see how the fate of this gorgeous lady fares in the box office. Oh, and she also has Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. A pretty good line up we say.

Lara Dutta
She made us laugh our lungs out with her Emily...oops...we mean Imli act in ‘Singh is Bliing’. This film was much required as this Ms. Universe 2000 didn’t see such a commercial success in her Bollywood career. Thirteen years in the industry, Lara Dutta is receiving the much deserved attention and she too has some power-packed films like ‘Azhar’ and ‘Fitoor’ in her kitty.

Salman Khan
Our ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s career hasn’t been a smooth sail all time. While he returns as ‘Prem’ in Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, Salman Khan’s career saw a setback with a series of flops post ‘Tere Naam’ in 2003. In 2009, ‘Wanted’ put Salman Khan on the Top Khan pedestal once again.

Vidya Balan

‘Parineeti’ girl Vidya Balan is the actor who gave birth to the new term ‘Shero’ (She+Hero) in Bollywood after her one-woman performance in ‘The Dirty Picture’. Though her earlier films ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘Paa’ gave her the critical acclamation, but films like ‘Thank You’, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ put her career on a backseat. Then came ‘The Dirty Picture’ and ‘Kahaani’ which catapulted her career to the big league.

Celebrated singer Sabina Yasmin will perform vocals in her daughter’s next album.
Badhon, Sabina’s daughter, is currently working on her fourth album which will feature four duet songs by the mother and daughter. ‘The last time I sang with Badhon was in 2006, for her album Protichhobi,’ said Sabina Yasmin.

All the songs in the album were composed by Rajesh Ghosh and Mohidul Hasan.

The singer also detailed her current endeavours, saying she is planning to bring out a new album of her own. ‘Right now, it’s just a thought. The only thing I can say now is that the songs will be of a different sort and melody-based.’

Sabina also talked about two other albums now under development. ‘One of the albums will feature patriotic songs while the other will have new recordings of some of my old hit numbers. But I have yet to start work on both.’

Sabina Yasmin is the vocalist of some of the most famous patriotic songs of the country, including Janmo Amar Dhonno Holo, Sob Kota Janala, Sei Railliner Dhare, and Swadhinata Tumi. She is also known for her philanthropic work with DCI, a nonprofit organisation working for the protection of children’s rights.

‘Last year, I attended eight concerts in different locations of the United States to collect funds for DCI. I am planning to do similar concerts next year also,’ Sabina Yesmin told New Age.
Sabina Yasmin has recorded more than 1,500 songs for films and over 10,000 songs in general. She is the singer of numerous super hit songs including Osru Diye Lekha, O Amar Rosiya, Ei Mon Tomake Dilam, and Ei Prithibir Pore.

Sabina was awarded with the Shadhinata Padak in 1996 and the Ekushey Padak in 1984 for her contributions to music. She is also the 13 times recipient of the Best Playback Singer (Female) at the National Film Awards.

Jazbaa: Movie Review

$
0

When the popular channel Star One premiered, a popular show called Siddhant was a hit with the audience. The story of a lawyer with a 100% track order has always made for an interesting drama. Sanjay Gupta's Jazbaa borrows its germ from the Korean flick Seven Days but could've taken a cue from the skillfully executed television soap mentioned above. The only and probably the biggest flaw with Jazbaa is its weak screenplay that displays the weakness of its writers and their inability to mould the top notch story with their novel touch.

The story is powerful - a sharp, dyanamic lawyer who fights cases for money is fighting for family as a mother against another mother whose daughter was brutally defiled. While watching Jazbaa, on one hand you'll be overcome with the urge to root for its characters and on the other, you'll be too distracted by the discrepancies in the plotline. You can't watch this film without feeling guilty and we can be accused of enjoying this faulty yet fantastic entertainer. It is underwhelming in parts and absolutely enthralling in others.

All that is good about the film can hardly be credited to the captain of the ship, who fails to polish his film adequately. Gupta is unnecessarily descriptive where it is not needed, straight plunges for over-the-top and superfluous drama and his penchant for dialoguebaazi makes the film meander too much. Such films are better played subtle, an art Gupta clearly has no idea about. It is painfully green in colour and though cinematographer Sameer Arya's slick job at the camera is unmissable, the film is over stylised for the story it intends to tell, compromising on the soul.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has chosen her comeback film well. This isn't a vanity project for her and she adopts her challenging part with such gravitas, well for a large part, that it is hard to believe the actress is emerging fresh from a five-year long hiatus. The best part about Jazbaa is the undefined chemistry between Aishwarya and Irrfan. The latter lights up the frame as the cop who wear swagger on his sleeve. The two have an unstated bond which is such a refreshing change in a Sanjay Gupta film, that mostly has a tendency of creating things that are far too on-the-face. Their dependency on each other is beautifully created and amidst all the preaching and the heavy duty punch lines, the director conjures up something pleasantly surprising.

The film's first hour crawls and it takes a lot of patience to sit through the gimmicky display of antics which in Gupta's world stands for acting. Aishwarya's Anuradha is infallible as the advocate who makes winning cases look like a cakewalk. Irrfan's Yohaan is desi-filmy hero whose only job was to slap audiences with dialogues. At one point, the wisecracks kill. But once, you return with your popcorn tub reloaded, ready to brave more of Kamlesh Pandey's whipping punchlines, the film miraculously changes. Aishwarya who till then seemed unsure of the landscape she was working around, adapts for better. Her altercations with Shabana Azmi is such treat to watch and even the court-scenes with Atul Kulkarni are absolutely delightful. In the last 30 minutes or so, the film's tempo rises with the sharp and enticing twists raising the energy and knotting up the drama in a gritty climax.

There is intrigue, power and panache in the film but the melodrama often dulls the ups. While its primary cast is excellent, the writers have been sketchy in contouring their characters who are too superficial and lack depth. For instance, Ash sports red eyes all through the film which is apparently a show of her anguish and pain and yet, the perfect mascara is never overstepping the mark. When she spots her daughter in the never-ending bridge sequence, Ash is made to ham. She is abhorrently loud and knowing Ash's body of work, it is evident that the actor merely played out Gupta's directive. Her slow-mo runs and unbearable songs, too contribute in running down the film's zing. Chandan Roy Sanyal, Jackie Shroff and Siddhanth Kapoor are just wasted in the film that could've done well without them lurking in when least required.

Jazbaa is daring, menacing, intriguing and aptly gripping but is never more than a shadow of its original. Novelty is avoidable if the product is able to latch itself to your subconscious (My facourite example of this is Barfi), but Jazbaa barely scrapes through on those grounds. It works but it could've been so much better.

Had Irrfan not ended the film with the regressive "Mohabbat thi isliye jaane diya...zid hoti toh baahon mein hoti…”, we could’ve considered being kinder. Hoots aside, get some perspective commercial cinema!

There is a strong buzz in the industry that it’s Parineeti Chopra, who has finally made it as the lead actress opposite Salman Khan in ‘Sultan’, which goes on floors probably next month.

While sources from the industry have been saying that the makers have zeroed upon Parineeti and that the actress will soon start working on her character, the production house, Yash Raj Films has not given any confirmation. So far, numerous actresses have been in fray for being the leading lady of the film, from Anushka Sharma to Deepika Padukone to Kangana Ranaut to Parineeti to Kriti Sanon, and now reportedly Parineeti has been finally locked in as the lead.

If the reports are true, then it will certainly be a fresh pairing in the recent times. Salman, who plays a wrestler in the film, has already started Mix Martial Art training which he will continue for few more weeks. Meanwhile, Parineeti, it is heard has been going through intense training and workout and as a result has lost weight drastically. Is it for her role in ‘Sultan’? Well, the time will tell. The film will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is said to get released on Eid of 2016.

Salman Khan-Lulia Vantur engaged!

When it comes to Dabbang Khan aka Salman, it’s difficult to answer one question- when will this eligible hottie tie the knot? For years, Salman’s affair with many leading ladies and foreign actress has been the talk of the town.

However, nothing could materialise into anything permanent. Marriage is something that has eluded the actor. Always tight-lipped about his relationships, Salman never let break ups bother him, delivering hits after hits throughout his career. So when the rumours of the actor dating Romanian TV celebrity, Lulia Vantur surfaced, two years back, everyone was surprised. It was said that Salman was quite serious about Lulia and later she has been spotted with Salman many times. There were rumours doing the round that he had openly declared to his family that Lulia was his girlfriend at Arpita's wedding!

However, no credibility has ever been attached to such news. The Rumanian hottie has also been seen in a few family pictures and at all the parties that Salman attends. Recently, she was also spotted on the sets of Salman's upcoming film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. A while back the actor was asked as to when he will get married, he had jokingly replied, "I may see myself getting married in 2015."

And now, adding more tadka to the news is, that Salman’s rumoured girlfriend Lulia has been back in Romania since 5 weeks now. And now her PR back in Bucharest claims Vantur is engaged with wedding to happen early next year!!

What do you think? Are Salman and Lulia engaged? Or this is just a publicity stunt being pulled out by the actress’ PR? Let’s hope that Salman comes out in open and clear the air around this.

XXX movie has not been shelved: Ekta Kapoor

Producer Ekta Kapoor’s boldest offering ‘XXX’ is yet to see the light of the day. To be directed by Ken Ghosh, the movie which was earlier slated to release in the second half of 2015 seems to have suddenly gone out of the radar. There were reports of the movie having been shelved.

However when Ekta Kapoor was asked about the same, the Balaji head curtly replied: “A film that has been once shot cannot be shelved.”

‘XXX’ was in news for its one-of-a-kind nudity clause wherein actors had to sign a contract that reportedly gave the director a free hand to shoot bold scenes that he wanted from the actors on screen. Sources say that parts of the movie are being re-shot and Balaji is pushing for December release.

We wonder how a movie with a name like ‘XXX’ will bypass the moral scissors of the censor board. Let’s wait and watch for that.

I would never do something like that

Deepika Padukone was at her ethnic best flaunting Anju Modi’s creation at the launch of the first song of her upcoming movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’ titled “Deewani Mastani”. There were reports about the actress calling her ‘Om Shanti Om’ co-actor Shah Rukh Khan regarding the clash of her movie with the latter’s ‘Dilwale’.

When asked to comment on the same, Deepika Padukone told reporters: “I think when you are working in a film like ‘Bajirao Mastani’, there’s no real time or head space to get even involved in something like that. As an actor, I think the only thing an actor can do is to do your part with honesty and conviction and you leave the rest to your professionals like the producers and directors who will make that call.”

The actress, who has worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Chennai Express’ and Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’, said, “I have a very personal equation with Shah Rukh and I would never do something like that.”

Deepika, who herself watched the song ‘Deewani Mastani’ for the first time at the launch in Delhi, said that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is very guarded when it comes to his movies, but launching this song two months prior to the movie release is a big thing for him.

As it was also the launch of the 11th Blenders Pride Fashion Week, which has collaborated with a film for the first time, Deepika said that it was the perfect place for them to launch a song with such grandeur here. She said, “I think we all felt that this was the perfect place to showcase a song of this scale and grandeur.”

Deepika, who was present for the song launch with the dress designer of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ Anju Modi will be seen as Mastani in the Sanjay Leela Bhasali film.

The movie which also stars Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra will release on December 18.

Did Katrina choose SRK over Salman Khan?

At a time when every successful heroine is looking forward to working with Salman Khan, here is one lady who made a pretty exception.

When asked Katrina Kaif as to which actor would she like to work with again? The leggy actress said, “I would love to work with Shah Rukh again in a film.” Oops, did she miss out on Salman Khan!

When asked why not Salman, there was a rather long pause and then she said, “Let’s see — if that happens. If it’s meant to be, it will.” She also said that after four to five films, in case she is offered a movie with the same actor, she would consider it and that she doesn’t have a problem with that.

Well, with Kat expressing her interest in working SRK, we wonder what Sallu has to say about it?!
Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif is currently shooting for Nitya Mehra’s ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ opposite Sidharth Malhotra. She also has ‘Jagga Jasoos’ opposite beau Ranbir Kapoor up for a release next year.
