Deepika Padukone was at her ethnic best flaunting Anju Modi’s creation at the launch of the first song of her upcoming movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’ titled “Deewani Mastani”. There were reports about the actress calling her ‘Om Shanti Om’ co-actor Shah Rukh Khan regarding the clash of her movie with the latter’s ‘Dilwale’.
When asked to comment on the same, Deepika Padukone told reporters: “I think when you are working in a film like ‘Bajirao Mastani’, there’s no real time or head space to get even involved in something like that. As an actor, I think the only thing an actor can do is to do your part with honesty and conviction and you leave the rest to your professionals like the producers and directors who will make that call.”
The actress, who has worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Chennai Express’ and Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’, said, “I have a very personal equation with Shah Rukh and I would never do something like that.”
Deepika, who herself watched the song ‘Deewani Mastani’ for the first time at the launch in Delhi, said that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is very guarded when it comes to his movies, but launching this song two months prior to the movie release is a big thing for him.
As it was also the launch of the 11th Blenders Pride Fashion Week, which has collaborated with a film for the first time, Deepika said that it was the perfect place for them to launch a song with such grandeur here. She said, “I think we all felt that this was the perfect place to showcase a song of this scale and grandeur.”
Deepika, who was present for the song launch with the dress designer of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ Anju Modi will be seen as Mastani in the Sanjay Leela Bhasali film.
The movie which also stars Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra will release on December 18.
