Although a number of Pakistani cricketers had humiliated cricket by scandalizing themselves in match fixing over the period of time, former Pakistan wicket keeper batsman Rashid Latif has expressed his high demand not to provide any opportunities for Bangladesh one of the most popular cricketers Mohammad Ashraful to return to cricket after the end of his suspension period.
Now staying in Bangladesh as the Brand Ambassador of Pakistan Physically Disable Cricket team participating in the International T20 tournament, Latif spoke about the anti corruption campaign of International Cricket Council. He clearly denounced his position against the once suspended cricketers from international arena.
“Absolutely not. Mohammad Ashraful must be punished for whatever he did. He should not be returned in the national squad” – Latif said.
About the suspended Pakistani cricketers, the former captain stated that they could play in the domestic arena. “Pakistan cricket board will fall in image trouble if those cricketers would participate in the national level.”
Rashid Latif is well detested in Bangladesh for his catch fraudulence back in 2003 in Multan Test where the tigers lost the match by 1 wicket. Avoiding any sort of discussion about the past event, the then Pakistan captain appreciated the recent performance of Bangladesh team in ODIs.
“They are really excelling these days. They had white washed Pakistan and lifted the series against teams like India and South Africa. They have established themselves as an attacking side in world cricket and have identified their goals. Best wishes for Bangladesh for the upcoming Australian tour” – reckoned Rashid Latif.
